India Announces INR 26.75 Trillion in Investments This Fiscal Year, with INR 6.5 Trillion Planned for Nuclear Power
According to a report released by the Economic Research Department of India's Bank of Baroda, total announced investments in India reached INR 26.75 trillion between April 1 and August 5 of the 2026-2027 fiscal year. Amid persistent uncertainties in the global economic landscape, Information Technology-enabled Services (ITeS) emerged as the dominant investment destination, accounting for 56% of total proposed investments. The report stated that the ITeS sector announced investments of INR 14.98 trillion, with nearly 99% concentrated in data centers and artificial intelligence, involving 13 companies. This indicates that digital infrastructure and AI-related industries remain a strategic focus for Indian enterprises and capital allocation. By sector, investment announcements remain highly...

Small Modular Reactors Expected to Contribute One-Quarter of Global New Nuclear Capacity by 2050
According to data compiled by the World Nuclear Association (WNA), global nuclear power installed capacity is expected to reach 1,446 GWe by 2050. This projection is based on the continued operation of existing reactors and the implementation of announced nuclear power development targets by governments. Currently, global installed nuclear capacity stands at approximately 403 GWe. To achieve the above scale, an additional approximately 1,043 GWe of nuclear capacity will need to be added. Among this, Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are expected to contribute about 260 GWe, accounting for roughly one-quarter of global new nuclear capacity. Factors driving nuclear power expansion are increasing. The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence applications has driven up electricity demand from data centers, and the accelerating electrification of transportation and industrial sectors has further elevated the importance of stable, low-carbon electricity supply. Meanwhile, energy security and net-zero emission targets are prompting more countries to reassess the role of nuclear energy in their energy mix.

World Nuclear Association: Global Nuclear Power Investment Must Reach $250 Billion Annually to Support Tripling of Installed Capacity by 2050
Global nuclear power investment is expected to see significant growth, with annual investment needs potentially exceeding $250 billion by 2050 to meet rising world energy demand. According to a report by the World Nuclear Association (WNA), this investment scale aims to at least triple global nuclear power installed capacity and is supported by 38 countries. This represents a potential investment opportunity of up to $6 trillion for the nuclear power industry, attracting widespread attention. In addition to government funding, private sector capital participation is crucial to the comprehensive development of nuclear power. The report emphasizes that investment should not only focus on new nuclear power plant construction but also expand the nuclear fuel cycle to support large-scale operations, ensure energy supply...

EDF plans to bring in investors for Nuward small modular reactor project by end of 2026
French utility EDF said on July 30 that it plans to bring in investors for its Nuward small modular reactor project by the end of 2026. The company stated that the related financing arrangements will be centered around European customers and industrial partners to support the development of a batch of initial reactors better aligned with user needs. Small modular reactors have not yet entered large-scale commercial production, but multiple companies worldwide are advancing the deployment of related technologies. Supporters believe that compared with traditional large nuclear power units, small modular reactors offer greater flexibility in deployment methods, application scenarios, and low-carbon energy supply. EDF is a state-owned French power company operating 57...

World Nuclear Association expects global large-scale nuclear power construction spending to peak between 2041 and 2045
The World Nuclear Association (WNA) expects global nuclear power industry spending to reach a phased peak between 2041 and 2045. At 2025 prices, approximately $1 trillion will be directed toward the construction of large nuclear power plants during this period. Sama Bilbao y León, Director General of the World Nuclear Association, stated that investment interest in the nuclear energy sector has significantly increased, with 50 countries having formulated relatively specific nuclear energy development plans. She believes that implementing these plans will require substantial financial support, with the required investment scale far exceeding current levels. According to the Association's estimates, in addition to large nuclear power plant construction, approximately $450 billion will be allocated globally to small modular reactor projects between 2041 and 2045, along with $84 billion for extending the operational lifetimes of existing reactors.
