India's TARIL Secures Generator Transformer Order for Kaiga Nuclear Power Project

On August 31, 2026, India's Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (TARIL) secured an order to supply generator transformers for Units 5 and 6 of the Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant, providing critical power equipment for the nuclear project being advanced by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) in Karnataka. The order was placed by Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) and marks TARIL's first order in the nuclear power sector since entering the field. Units 5 and 6 of the Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant are located in Kaiga, Karnataka, India, developed by NPCIL, and utilize India's indigenous 700 MWe pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR) technology.
