Hengyang Deploys Measures to Advance the Development of the Nuclear Technology Application Industry Cluster

On the morning of July 22, Liu Zhongjie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Hengyang, presided over a special coordination meeting on the development of the nuclear technology application industry to discuss and advance relevant initiatives. The meeting emphasized leveraging Hengyang’s resource endowments and industrial foundation, strengthening the provision of essential resources and collaborative services, and scaling up and strengthening the nuclear technology application industry to support the city's high-quality economic and social development.

The meeting highlighted that the nuclear technology application industry is a distinctive and competitive sector for Hengyang. The city aims to drive the development of industrial clusters across five key chains—nuclear raw materials, nuclear energy utilization, nuclear technology applications, nuclear environmental protection, and nuclear medicine—thereby injecting momentum into the industrial economy.

Regarding future work, the meeting called for a focus on key tasks and the precise resolution of bottlenecks hindering industrial growth, urging the expedited re-signing of strategic cooperation agreements to clear obstacles. Simultaneously, the city will deepen institutional reforms, clarify the division of responsibilities among stakeholders, enhance inter-departmental coordination, and unleash the vitality of various market entities.

The meeting also proposed accelerating the construction of existing infrastructure and taking stock of foundational work to gain a comprehensive understanding of the industrial base; this will lay the groundwork for mapping industrial chains and conducting investment promotion aimed at extending, supplementing, and strengthening these chains. Regarding project advancement, the city will coordinate project selection with industrial planning, optimizing existing capacity while expanding new growth, encouraging existing enterprises to double their output on-site, accelerating the landing and commissioning of new enterprises, and enhancing the overall competitiveness of the nuclear technology application industry chain.

To ensure effective implementation, Hengyang will establish a dedicated task force and optimize operational mechanisms, instituting weekly coordination and monthly progress reporting to resolve issues—such as land use, supporting facilities, and resource revitalization—on a regular basis. Furthermore, the meeting called for strengthened policy support, coordinated provision of essential resources (including land, capital, and personnel), an optimized business environment, streamlined approval processes, and improved government service efficiency to drive the solid development of the nuclear technology application industry.
