Qiangchang Technology Secures Tens of Millions of Yuan in Angel Funding; Industrialization of High-Temperature Superconducting Magnets Accelerates
Qiangchang (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., a company spun off from the research achievements of the Fusion Science and Engineering Team at Fudan University's Institute of Modern Physics, recently completed an angel funding round raising tens of millions of RMB. Investors included the Shanghai Future Industry Fund, CAS Star, and Dingfeng Sci-Tech Innovation.

The funds from this round will be allocated to three core areas: R&D of high-field high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet technology, the establishment of an engineering platform, and product testing and validation. The objective is clear: to accelerate the practical application of HTS magnets in fields such as controlled fusion, high-end scientific research equipment, and scientific instruments.
HTS magnets are critical components in controlled fusion devices, directly influencing magnetic confinement capabilities, device compactness, and engineering feasibility. Furthermore, this technology underpins the development of cutting-edge equipment such as high-energy accelerators and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) systems.
Founded in early 2026, Qiangchang Technology boasts a core team drawn from prestigious institutions—including Fudan University, Tsinghua University, the University of Science and Technology of China, and the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science (Chinese Academy of Sciences)—bringing nearly two decades of accumulated technical expertise and engineering experience. The company currently focuses on high-field HTS magnets and application systems, covering the entire value chain from magnet design, manufacturing, and testing to system integration.
Regarding commercialization, the company has established partnerships with multiple fusion enterprises and research institutions, securing contracts worth tens of millions of RMB and developing the capability to deliver complex HTS magnet projects.
Beyond fusion and specialized magnet engineering, Qiangchang Technology is advancing the construction of testing platforms for superconducting tapes, conductors, and magnets, while also initiating R&D on core magnets and complete systems for high-field NMR spectrometers. Notably, an 800 MHz HTS NMR magnet has successfully completed testing; its field strength and homogeneity meet design specifications, laying the groundwork for the subsequent development of the complete system.
This financing round marks a significant milestone in the progress of Fudan University's Institute of Modern Physics regarding the fundamental research, engineering development, and technology transfer of HTS magnets. Moving forward, Qiangchang Technology aims to further strengthen its delivery capabilities for complex magnets, refine its design, manufacturing, and cryogenic testing systems, and accelerate the validation of fusion magnet projects and high-field NMR systems.
