RES Engineering to Supply HVAC and Water Treatment Equipment for Egypt's El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant

August 12 news, RES Engineering has won the bid to supply refrigeration units, ventilation systems, and water treatment equipment for the under-construction El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt.

According to the project schedule, the scope of supply covers multiple systems and equipment in the main buildings and public areas of the nuclear power plant, including central and zoned air conditioning, standalone air conditioning, ventilation equipment, water-cooled chiller units, fans, control cabinets, humidifiers, electric heaters, steam generators, and water treatment equipment.

RES Engineering stated that this project involves not only a large supply scale but also a complex variety of equipment types. Different equipment needs to be matched in terms of technical parameters, project requirements, quality standards, and delivery schedules, imposing high demands on engineering design, quality control, logistics organization, manufacturing, and project support.

Alexander Drozdov, Junior Special Projects Engineer at RES Engineering, stated that this is the first time the company's relevant department has supplied HVAC equipment for a nuclear power plant, making the project challenging at both the engineering and organizational levels. The difficulty lies not only in the quantity of supplies but also in the wide variety of equipment, which must ensure that air conditioning units, ventilation units, water-cooled chiller units, fans, control cabinets, humidifiers, electric heaters, steam generators, and other components operate in coordination within the same system while meeting project technical requirements.

The project supply scope also includes water treatment systems. During nuclear power plant operation, water quality affects water chemistry conditions, equipment service life, and the condition of pipelines, valves, and heat exchange equipment. Water treatment units remove salts, dissolved gases, and other impurities to bring water quality into compliance with the requirements of process loops in the nuclear power plant.

Daria Vladimirova, Design Engineer for Special Projects (Level II) at RES Engineering, stated that the company will supply complete water treatment units as well as individual equipment such as water tanks, pump sets, and filters. Each product category requires separate management in design, manufacturing, logistics, and quality control, and the company's internal departments need to work in close coordination to ensure that all components arrive on time, with the required quality, and are assembled on site.

This contract award will further accumulate RES Engineering's experience in equipment supply for large-scale nuclear power projects. For the company, this project involves not only customized technical solutions but also requires integrating engineering development, requirements tracking, quality control, and equipment delivery into unified project management.
