Steel Containment Vessel Ring 1 of Unit 1 at Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant Successfully Hoisted into Place
At 11:38 on August 16, after 4 hours and 01 minutes of continuous and stable operation, the steel containment vessel ring 1 (CV1R) of the nuclear island of Unit 1 at Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant was successfully hoisted into place. This hoisting marks another successful installation of a key module following the CVBH and CA20 modules for Unit 1 of Bailong Nuclear Power Plant, signifying a critical breakthrough in the construction of the main structure of the nuclear island of Unit 1.

The steel containment vessel consists of five major modules: the bottom head, the intermediate cylindrical shell (rings 1 to 3), and the top head, serving as the third physical safety barrier of the reactor. The CV1R hoisted this time is the core component with the largest volume and heaviest weight among the five major components of the steel containment vessel, measuring approximately 15.5 meters in height and up to 39.6 meters in maximum inner diameter. It integrates key items such as equipment hatches, penetrations, stiffening ribs, and attached plates. With numerous pre-installed items and a complex structural layout, the total hoisting weight is approximately 1,021 tons, imposing extremely high requirements on construction organization and quality control. The hoisting operation commenced at 7:37 on August 16 and was successfully completed after a series of maneuvers including lifting, slewing, luffing, and hook lowering, with the entire process being safe, stable, and orderly.

Bailong Nuclear Power Plant has consistently integrated safe and high-quality construction throughout the entire construction process, strictly controlling every procedure and detail through refined management. To ensure the successful hoisting of CV1R, Guangxi Nuclear Power, in collaboration with participating units including Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute, State Nuclear Power Equipment Manufacturing, and Zhejiang Thermal Power, established a pioneering task force to tackle various construction challenges. The project adopted 3D modeling technology, supplemented by measures such as pre-leveling of transport vehicles, pre-adjustment of adjustable tie rods, and dynamic monitoring of stress pins, achieving precise leveling of the module and real-time monitoring of sling stress conditions. Meanwhile, comprehensive simulation rehearsals and technical briefings were conducted covering key aspects such as document preparation, resource assurance, construction logic, and lifting paths, ultimately achieving a safe, stable, and one-time successful CV1R hoisting operation.

The successful hoisting of CV1R marks the entry of the nuclear island of Unit 1 into the peak period of construction and installation, laying a solid foundation for subsequent nuclear island main structure construction and equipment introduction and installation. The company will continue to leverage the "Six Management" approach to enhance capabilities and skills, and apply the "Six Focus" approach to strengthen work style and ensure implementation, making every effort to advance the safe and high-quality construction of Phase I of the Bailong Nuclear Power Plant project.
