CA01 Module of Unit 1 at Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Plant Successfully Hoisted into Position in the Nuclear Island

On August 29, the CA01 module of Unit 1 at the Bailong Nuclear Power Plant of SPIC Guangxi Nuclear Power was precisely positioned, marking a new phase of parallel civil construction and installation in the nuclear island.

The CA01 module is located in the reactor building of the nuclear island and serves as the installation room for main equipment such as the reactor pressure vessel, steam generators, and pressurizer. The module is T-shaped in overall form, with external dimensions of 28 meters in length, 29 meters in width, and 24 meters in height. It consists of 47 sub-modules, with a total lifting weight of approximately 1,167 tons, making it the largest and heaviest structural module in the nuclear island. The hoisting operation commenced at 8:07 a.m. and, after a series of maneuvers including lifting, hovering, slewing, lowering, and adjustment, was successfully positioned at 12:58 p.m., with the entire process being safe, controllable, stable, and orderly.

To ensure the safe and orderly implementation of this hoisting operation, SPIC Guangxi Nuclear Power fully summarized the experience from previous module hoisting operations such as CA20 and CA05, strictly controlled all prerequisite conditions, implemented list-based management, and assigned responsibilities item by item with closed-loop implementation. At the technical level, the project team conducted full-process simulation calculations for the hoisting and applied anti-deformation reinforcement measures to the module; based on the module's dimensional parameters, precise surveying and 3D scanning were carried out in the nuclear island installation area to identify and eliminate interference items in advance; the module weight was strictly verified, and center-of-gravity calculation data was updated in real time, successfully completing module leveling and achieving precise positioning of the module hoisting.

The Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Project is located at the southernmost tip of Jiangshan Peninsula in Fangchenggang City, Guangxi. It is the first nuclear power station developed by SPIC in Guangxi and a landmark project for Guangxi's construction of a national comprehensive energy security zone. The project plans to build 2 CAP1000 nuclear power units and 4 "Guohe No.1" units, with a total installed capacity of approximately 8.5 million kilowatts, planned as a whole and implemented in phases. The first phase, Unit 1, achieved FCD (First Concrete Pour) in December 2025 and is currently in the construction and installation stage.
