Unit 2 of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) Guangxi Bailong Nuclear Power Project starts construction
At 18:27 on September 27, the nuclear island of Unit 2 of State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) Guangxi Nuclear Power Bailong Nuclear Power Project began its first concrete pour (FCD), marking that Phase I of the Bailong Nuclear Power Project has shifted from single-unit construction to a new stage of comprehensive dual-unit construction.

The FCD for Unit 2 of the Bailong Nuclear Power Project adopted a single-side pushing continuous one-time integral pouring method, with approximately 6,637 cubic meters of concrete planned to be poured over approximately 58 hours.
In view of the multiple overlapping construction difficulties such as the large bottom slab size, irregular shape, and high difficulty of temperature control and curing, the project team prepared a special construction plan in advance and implemented all-round safeguard measures. The single-side pushing pouring path and process parameters were optimized, and the owner, supervisor and general contractor exercised full-process on-site supervision and control; source temperature control measures such as low-heat cement, raw material cooling, and strict control of the placing temperature were adopted, combined with an intelligent temperature measurement system for real-time monitoring of temperature differences, and a combined curing process of “film mulching for moisture retention + dynamic temperature control” to improve the crack resistance of concrete; relying on the smart engineering platform for overall scheduling, shift work was implemented to ensure the smooth and orderly progress of continuous concrete pouring.

The Bailong Nuclear Power Project is a landmark project for Guangxi's construction of a national comprehensive energy security guarantee zone. It is located at the southernmost tip of Jiangshan Peninsula in Fangchenggang City, with a planned construction of 2 CAP1000 nuclear power units and 4 “Guohe One” units, with a total installed capacity of approximately 8.5 million kilowatts and a total investment of approximately 120 billion yuan. Units 1 and 2 of Phase I adopt CAP1000 third-generation passive nuclear power technology, with a single-unit capacity of 1.25 million kilowatts. Unit 1 achieved FCD in December 2025, has now entered the construction and installation stage, and is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2030.
After Phase I of the Bailong Nuclear Power Project is completed and put into operation, its annual power generation will be approximately 20 billion kilowatt-hours, and it can reduce standard coal consumption by approximately 6 million tons per year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 16 million tons, sulfur dioxide by approximately 52,000 tons, and nitrogen oxides by approximately 45,000 tons per year. The emission reduction effect is equivalent to planting approximately 44,000 hectares of broad-leaved forest, and it will play a positive role in optimizing Guangxi's energy structure and promoting energy conservation and emission reduction.
