From July 19 to 22, Sun Jinlong, Party Leadership Group Secretary of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, visited Lanzhou, Tianshui, and Longnan in Gansu Province to inspect ecological and environmental protection work.

General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out that protecting the Yellow River is a project of vital importance for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Sun visited the Lanzhou section of the Yellow River to inspect ecological protection and governance efforts, as well as the strengthening of ecological and environmental oversight. He stated that it is essential to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and fully execute the major strategic deployment for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. He emphasized the need to firmly grasp the strategic requirements of prioritizing protection and focusing on governance, to coordinate the integrated protection and systematic management of mountains, waters, forests, farmlands, lakes, grasslands, and deserts, and to continuously improve the ecological and environmental quality of the Yellow River Basin. Efforts must be made to deepen the development of the ecological and environmental regulatory system, continuously enhance capabilities in environmental monitoring and comprehensive analysis, and constantly upgrade integrated, smart regulatory capabilities—including monitoring, pollution source tracing, and early warning—to provide robust support for ecological and environmental protection in the Yellow River Basin.

Ecological and environmental safety is crucial to economic and social development as well as public health; there can be no moment of laxity. Sun visited the Zhongshan Bridge section of the Yellow River in Lanzhou, the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center, and the Tianshui Medical Waste Disposal Center to inspect the development of environmental emergency prevention and control systems, radiation safety regulation, and hazardous waste treatment and disposal operations. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions on workplace safety. He called for intensified efforts to identify and rectify environmental risks and hazards in key industries and sectors, the improvement of environmental emergency networks based on "one river, one policy, one map" strategies, and the timely, proper, and scientific handling of various sudden environmental incidents. Responsibilities for radiation safety regulation must be fulfilled, safety oversight of nuclear technology applications strictly enforced, and radiation environmental safety effectively guaranteed. Furthermore, whole-process management of hazardous waste must be strengthened, capabilities for hazardous waste utilization and disposal enhanced in light of local conditions, and the bottom line of ecological and environmental safety firmly upheld.

Promoting the green development of the manufacturing industry is a key measure for protecting the ecological environment and accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system. Sun visited Tianshui Huatian Technology Co., Ltd. to inspect the development of "green factories." After gaining a detailed understanding of the company's overall development and touring the production workshops, he noted that enterprises are a vital force in driving the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development. He called for the improvement of policies and systems for ecological and environmental protection, encouraging enterprises to implement green and low-carbon technological upgrades, improve pollution prevention and control facilities, enhance environmental performance, and accelerate the construction of green factories. We must advance self-reliance and strength in green and low-carbon science and technology, actively support the commercialization and industrial application of scientific achievements, and foster an industrial structure characterized by high technological content, low resource consumption, and minimal environmental pollution. We need to cultivate and expand green productivity, continuously enhancing both the environmental sustainability and the economic value of our development.

A sound ecological environment represents our greatest wealth, our greatest advantage, and our most valuable brand. Sun Jinlong visited the Xiaolongshan Maiji Botanical Garden in Tianshui City, as well as the Xiaolongshan National Nature Reserve, the Guojiagou Green Mine Demonstration Area of ​​Jinhui Mining, and the Nanshan area of ​​Chengguan Town in Chengxian County (Longnan City), to inspect ecological protection efforts, the transformation of ecological assets into economic value (the "Two Mountains" concept), and the improvement of rural living environments. He pointed out the need to strengthen oversight of ecological protection and restoration, implement tiered management and zoning controls for nature reserves, comprehensively advance the construction of green mines, and effectively fortify the national ecological security barrier. We must firmly uphold and practice the philosophy that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," improve diversified ecological compensation mechanisms, actively expand channels for realizing the value of ecological products, and continuously transform ecological advantages into development advantages. We should learn from and apply the experience of the "Green Rural Revival Program" (the "Ten Thousand Villages Demonstration and Thousand Villages Renovation" Project), coordinate rural ecological revitalization with the improvement of rural living environments, strengthen the collection and treatment of rural domestic sewage, household waste, and livestock manure, and steadily advance the construction of beautiful villages.

During his inspection tour, Sun Jinlong also visited the Memorial Hall of the Liangdang Mutiny in Longnan City. He carefully examined the exhibited photographs and documents, learned in detail about the history of the Liangdang Mutiny, and paid tribute to the great achievements of revolutionary predecessors. He emphasized the need to vigorously carry forward the great founding spirit of the Communist Party of China and its fine revolutionary traditions, to remain confident and continue striving, and to earnestly shoulder the historic responsibility of comprehensively building a Beautiful China.
