The Institute of Plasma Physics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, hosted the 2026 China-Korea Bilateral Workshop on Tungsten Metal First Wall and Plasma-Wall Interactions

Recently, the 2026 China-Korea Bilateral Workshop on Tungsten Metal First Wall and Plasma-Wall Interactions (2026 CN-KO  Workshop on W-based metal Wall and  Plasma-Wall Interactions) was held. This meeting, hosted by the Institute of Plasma Physics, is a series of conferences under the framework of bilateral science and technology cooperation between the Chinese and Korean governments.

More than 40 researchers from institutions including the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, the Korea Institute of Materials Science, Pohang University of Science and Technology, the Institute of Plasma Physics, the Institute of Solid State Physics, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei University of Technology, and Beihang University attended the meeting. Qian Jinping, Deputy Director and Deputy Party Secretary of the Institute of Plasma Physics, attended the meeting and delivered an opening speech.

2026 China-Korea Bilateral Workshop on Tungsten Metal First Wall and Plasma-Wall Interactions

This workshop aimed to discuss bilateral research progress on advanced tungsten material first walls for tokamak devices and plasma-material surface interactions in a tungsten first wall environment, and to explore future development directions. The workshop featured 27 presentations covering topics such as the development of tungsten materials and components for tokamak devices, plasma-tungsten material interactions, and related diagnostics and simulations. The academic discussions were lively, with both sides engaging in in-depth exchanges on key scientific issues, experimental data sharing, and potential future cooperation directions.            

The successful holding of this workshop provided a platform for face-to-face exchanges between Chinese and Korean researchers, effectively promoting academic exchanges and cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as tungsten metal first walls and plasma-wall interactions.
