Radiation Monitoring Technical Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment Conducts On-Site Certification Assessment in Southwest China in Chengdu
To further improve the national certification assessment for radiation monitoring personnel, the Radiation Environmental Monitoring Technical Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently organized an on-site certification assessment for radiation monitoring institutions in Southwest China in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. A total of 52 technical personnel from three institutions participated in the assessment: the Southwest Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (hereinafter referred to as the Southwest Supervision Station), the Tibet Autonomous Region Radiation Environment Supervision Station (hereinafter referred to as the Tibet Radiation Station), and the Sichuan Provincial Radiation Environment Management and Monitoring Center Station (hereinafter referred to as the Sichuan Radiation Station).
The assessment team strictly controlled the assessment process in accordance with the provisions of the "Implementation Rules for Certification Assessment of Radiation Environmental Monitoring Technical Personnel." The assessment included both theoretical examinations and practical operation assessments. The theoretical examination was conducted in a centralized closed-book format, while the practical operation assessment was divided into two parts: basic skills assessment and sample analysis assessment. The basic skills assessment was conducted through on-site measurements, operational demonstrations, and on-site questioning, while the sample analysis assessment was conducted through blind sample measurements, operational demonstrations, and on-site questioning. Ultimately, the assessment team successfully completed the certification assessment tasks for 274 person-items.
This on-site institutional assessment was not only a comprehensive examination of the capabilities of radiation monitoring technical personnel, but also a targeted technical assistance effort for the Tibet Radiation Station. Through discussion and exchange of advanced work experience, the assessment helped clarify work difficulties and bottlenecks, consolidate the monitoring foundation, address capability shortcomings, and continuously enhance the radiation monitoring capabilities of the team.
