Rosatom Delegation Visits SevRAO Radioactive Waste Management Facilities
A delegation from Rosatom recently inspected the production facilities of the Northwestern Center - SevRAO, a branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "RADON" (FSUE RADON). The delegation included Vasily Tinin, responsible for state policy on radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuel, and nuclear and radiation safety, as well as Sergey Martynenko, head of the Integrated Nuclear Submarine Decommissioning Program Office.

The host side was represented by Igor Pron, Acting General Director of FSUE RADON, Dmitry Drozhilkin, Acting Director of SevRAO, and Yuri Shokhin and Alexander Dragan, heads of the Sayda Bay and Andreyev Bay branch offices.
The inspection began at the Nerpa Shipyard. The parties discussed cooperation projects related to the disposal of nuclear waste handed over by the defense sector. The delegation then proceeded to the Sayda Bay site to inspect the storage areas for reactor compartments of nuclear submarines, with particular focus on key tasks scheduled for 2026, including preparations for the transfer of TUK-143 related equipment from the Gremikha storage facility to the Sayda Bay storage facility for long-term storage.
At the Andreyev Bay nuclear facility, the expert group reviewed the readiness of follow-up work on spent nuclear fuel removal. Personnel reported that on-site operations are proceeding in accordance with established safety requirements, and that nuclear and radiation safety management remains at a high level.
During the visit, the heads of the branch offices also reported on industrial safety, occupational health and safety, maintenance progress, and financial and economic performance indicators. The parties discussed the progress of collaboration between FSUE RADON and Rosatom in fulfilling the state defense order.
At the conclusion of the inspection, the results of the work were summarized and a series of management decisions were formulated aimed at advancing the execution of the state defense order and improving the operational and management efficiency of SevRAO facilities.
