Russia Advances Construction of Fourth-Generation Nuclear Power Projects
Rosatom reports that it is one of the global leaders in the implementation of fourth-generation nuclear energy systems. According to the report, fourth-generation nuclear technologies are designed to minimize the risk of nuclear power accidents and reduce radioactive waste generation through a closed nuclear fuel cycle. As part of the relevant deployment, an innovative power unit featuring the BREST-OD-300 lead-cooled fast neutron reactor is under construction in Seversk, Tomsk Oblast, Russia. The project is regarded as a key component of Russia's efforts to advance the engineering application of fourth-generation nuclear power technologies. The report indicates that in 2025, the installation of the metal cladding for the central cavity of the BREST-OD-300 reactor was completed at the Seversk site, and the cladding for the surrounding cavities has also been installed in the designed positions. From August 20 to 21, the Workshop on Engineering Application of Domesticated Safety-Class DCS in Nuclear Power Projects, led by SNPAS, was successfully held in Shanghai. Relevant leaders and experts from Beijing Guangli Nuclear System Engineering Co., Ltd., China Nuclear Control System Engineering Co., Ltd., and Nuclear Power Institute of China attended the meeting, with a representative from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's North China Regional Office of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision dispatched to provide guidance. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the engineering qualification of domesticated safety-class DCS and the verification of their application in nuclear power engineering. Indian Government Approves INR 133.55 Billion Equity Funding for 6 Nuclear Power Projects Under Construction
To advance nuclear power construction and meet growing electricity demand, the Indian central government has approved equity funding of INR 133.55 billion (approximately RMB 13.355 billion) for six nuclear power projects under construction, with all funds fully disbursed. IAEA Training Course for Owner/Operator Organizations of New Nuclear Power Projects Concludes in Russia
On July 30, the Interregional Training Course on the Establishment of Owner/Operator Organizations for New Nuclear Power Projects, jointly organized by Rosatom and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), concluded at the Rosatom Technical Academy. Eighteen experts from 15 countries in Asia and Africa completed the five-day training. The participants were primarily from national nuclear energy institutions, regulatory bodies, and relevant competent authorities responsible for nuclear infrastructure development in their respective countries. The course focused on the establishment and capacity building of owner/operator organizations for new nuclear power projects, covering topics such as license applications, change management, feasibility study preparation, personnel competency development, organizational structure design, and contract management.
