Clobot Signs MOU with Korea Atomic Energy Environment Corporation and Others to Demonstrate Multi-Robot System for Safe Radioactive Waste Management

Clobot, a specialized enterprise in intelligent robot services and integrated control of heterogeneous robots, announced on August 6 that it will apply its multi-robot integrated control system to radioactive waste safety management sites. On August 3, the company signed a business agreement at the headquarters of the Korea Atomic Energy Environment Corporation, with partners including T-Robotics, the Gyeongbuk ICT Convergence Industry Promotion Association, and the Korea Atomic Energy Environment Corporation, under the project name "Demonstration Project for Multi-Robot Operation in High-Risk Radioactive Waste Safety Management."

The collaboration is based on the selection through the public call for proposals for the "Large-Scale Converged Robot Demonstration Project: Social Problem-Solving Type" hosted by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement in 2026, with Clobot serving as the lead organization and deploying its multi-robot integrated control system based on the CROMS platform. CROMS is a control platform that enables unified management of all robots on a single screen.

Inside the indoor radioactive waste receiving and storage building, three types of robots totaling four units will be deployed: one unmanned forklift with a maximum capacity of 2 tons and two autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) operating in parallel, and one 6-axis industrial robot responsible for precisely loading transported waste drums into disposal containers. Outside the outdoor ground support facility, three types of robots totaling three units will be deployed: one outdoor autonomous driving robot responsible for detecting fires and fall accidents on flat walkways and roadways, one eccentric autonomous driving robot monitoring hazardous gas leaks on moderately rugged terrain, and one four-legged walking patrol robot performing 24-hour unmanned security surveillance in complex rugged areas.

Clobot Managing Director Kang Seok-tae stated that this demonstration will reduce direct worker involvement, with robots sharing heavy object transport, loading, patrol, and surveillance tasks, while accumulating operational data and demonstration references applicable to future high-risk nuclear industrial facilities such as nuclear power plant decommissioning and small modular reactors, ultimately promoting the commercialization of the unmanned high-risk process market. Immediately following the signing, a kickoff meeting and workshop were held, where participating organizations and demand-side practitioners reached a consensus on successfully completing the unmanned demonstration of radioactive waste disposal processes and laying the foundation for the commercialization of robot operation platforms for future high-risk industrial facilities.
