Russian flaw detection robots to be deployed for the first time at Egypt's El Dabaa NPP

Russian flaw detection robots to be deployed for the first time at Egypt's El Dabaa NPP

Engineers from Russia's Ural Atomenergo and the Atomic Energy Non-Destructive Testing Center (NDTC) have developed an automated metal non-destructive testing system, which includes specialized inspection devices for reactor pressure vessel equipment. The system will be sent to Egypt's El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant for related equipment inspection. This is also the first deployment of such a standardized system at a nuclear power project outside Russia. The system consists of multiple robotic arms and a magnetic wheeled robot, capable of delivering ultrasonic flaw detection sensors and measuring devices to positions that are difficult for humans to access. The developer stated that the main goal of the system is to replace manual operations in high-radiation areas, reducing the risk of personnel entering hazardous zones for inspection tasks.

North China Regional Office of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Conducts On-Site Supervision of Main Pump Shaft Design and Manufacturing at Shanghai Electric KSB Nuclear Pump and Valve Co., Ltd.

To continuously enhance the localization quality of active equipment such as main pumps and the effectiveness of key technology improvements, the North China Regional Office of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision (hereinafter referred to as the North China Office) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently conducted on-site supervision of the wet winding main pump shaft design and manufacturing activities at Shanghai Electric KSB Nuclear Pump and Valve Co., Ltd. This supervision focused on the quality reliability of design improvement measures for main pumps, conducting detailed inspections on the standardization of design change processes, verifying key processes such as material acceptance, heat treatment, and hot sleeve assembly, with particular attention to the correlation between improvement measures and root cause analysis, the effectiveness of improved processes, and the compliance of various inspection and test results. It also required...

Shanghai Petrochemical's Black High-Density Polyethylene Special Material Obtains Nuclear Power Application Qualification

Shanghai Petrochemical's Black High-Density Polyethylene Special Material Obtains Nuclear Power Application Qualification

On July 28, Shanghai Petrochemical disclosed that its self-developed black high-density polyethylene special material YGH041TLSH has passed the certification of the American Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI). After passing this certification, Shanghai Petrochemical has become the first domestic supplier of high-end polyethylene pipe materials with nuclear power application qualifications, marking a breakthrough in China's long-term reliance on imports for polyethylene pipe raw materials used in nuclear power water supply and drainage systems. Nuclear power pipelines are one of the important supporting systems of nuclear power plants, with significantly higher requirements for material reliability and safety compared to ordinary municipal pipelines. Taking the 813 mm large-diameter pipeline used in the cooling system of a nuclear power plant as an example, its wall thickness is more than twice that of ordinary pipelines, and the design life requirement reaches...
