Wiley Launches Spectroscopy Analysis API Portfolio in the U.S., Enabling Rapid Identification of Unknown Compounds

HOBOKEN, N.J. — Wiley recently announced the launch of its spectroscopy analysis Application Programming Interface (API) portfolio, opening its spectral data, analytical algorithms, and predictive models to laboratories, instrument vendors, and software platforms to help users identify and verify unknown compounds faster within their own workflows. According to the company, Wiley has long been building scientific reference databases, with its spectral data applied across pharmaceuticals, forensics, environmental science, chemistry, food, and materials. The newly launched API portfolio aims to integrate these databases and analytical tools into more modern software environments, enabling laboratories to incorporate high-quality spectral information directly into existing...

Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Reveals Mechanism of Canine Brain Recognizing Human Negative Emotions

Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Reveals Mechanism of Canine Brain Recognizing Human Negative Emotions

August 11 news, Hungarian ethologists from Eötvös Loránd University, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Vienna in Austria and the National Autonomous University of Mexico, used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study how canine brains process human facial emotions. The related paper was published in iScience. The research team designed two experiments. To avoid the influence of dogs' emotional responses to familiar people on the results, facial photos of strangers were used in the experiments. The first experiment included 8 dogs aged 18 to 53 months, including 6 Border Collies, 1 Labrador Retriever, and 1 Golden Retriever. The dogs remained in a stationary position in the scanner and could leave the device at any time. The experiment first compared happy and neutral human face images...

Japanese research team experimentally confirms full-gap spin-triplet superconductivity in UBe13

Japanese research team experimentally confirms full-gap spin-triplet superconductivity in UBe13

On July 30, 2026, Kobe University and the Japan Atomic Energy Agency announced that a research team led by Professor Hideki Higashibata of the Graduate School of Science at Kobe University, along with Shoko Minami, who was a master's student at the time of the research, in collaboration with Yoshinori Haga, Research Director at the Japan Atomic Energy Agency, and researchers from Osaka University, experimentally confirmed for the first time the existence of a spin-triplet superconducting state with full-gap characteristics in the intermetallic compound UBe13. The findings were published in the Journal of the Physical Society of Japan on June 26 and were selected as an Editor's Choice paper. Since its discovery in 1983, UBe13 has been regarded as an important candidate material for spin-triplet superconductivity. Unlike conventional spin-singlet superconductivity...
