South China Supervision Station Conducts Multi-Department Joint Inspection of Radioactive Source Safety in Guilin

Recently, the South China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station (South China Supervision Station) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and local public security and ecology and environment departments of Guilin City, formed a joint inspection team and went to Guangxi Guilin Zhenghan Irradiation Center Co., Ltd. to carry out routine radiation safety inspection and special inspection of radioactive source safety. The most important building of a nuclear power plant is the nuclear island. The weight of the containment, reactor core, and main equipment of the nuclear island all rests on a single concrete raft foundation. This foundation must withstand the static weight of the nuclear island and also resist extreme loads under earthquake and accident conditions.
