Malaysian Nuclear Agency Strengthens Scientific Writing Training to Promote Dissemination of Nuclear Technology Research Outcomes
On August 18, the Malaysian Nuclear Agency stated that it will continue to enhance the scientific writing and publishing capabilities of its professionals and technical staff, driving research outcomes out of the laboratory to serve society and national development in a broader manner.

Dr. Muhamad Rawi Mohamed Zin, Director General of the Malaysian Nuclear Agency, said at the opening of the "2026 Scientific Writing and Publishing Seminar and Workshop" that scientific publications are a key indicator of whether research outcomes can promote knowledge advancement, solve practical problems, and create value for national development. High-quality publishing not only helps demonstrate research impact but also enables scientific outcomes to be shared, understood, and applied by a wider audience.
Themed "High-Impact Publishing as the Core of Knowledge Development," the seminar and workshop covered emerging trends in academic publishing, including artificial intelligence, data analytics, and open access publishing. Dr. Muhamad Rawi stated that these new tools and models help accelerate the writing process and expand the reach of knowledge dissemination, but they also place higher demands on academic integrity, data accuracy, plagiarism prevention, ethical use of artificial intelligence, and copyright awareness.
He also noted that capacity building in scientific writing and publishing requires strengthened collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, publishing houses, and industry stakeholders, integrating professional resources across science, technology, language, and publishing. The collaboration between the Malaysian Nuclear Agency and the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) is reflected in the "Nuklear Untuk Rakyat" column of the "Majalah Dewan Kosmik" magazine, as well as in the publication of books, encyclopedias, and the development of Malay scientific terminology.
Dr. Muhamad Rawi stated that strengthening scientific writing and publishing practices is an ongoing initiative by the Malaysian Nuclear Agency to support the "Nuklear Untuk Rakyat" vision under the "National Nuclear Technology Policy 2030." Currently, the agency publishes more than 500 scientific publications annually, including international journal papers, conference papers, scientific books, technical reports, and popular science articles in both Malay and English.
The event also received support from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, the Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books, PTS Media Group, the Malaysian Book Publishers Association, and related science communication platforms. Workshop sessions were also organized to help participants enhance their ability to produce scientific works of high quality, with integrity, and in compliance with current publishing requirements.
