Vietnam-Hungary Industrial Education Cooperation Seminar Held, Vietnam Plans to Send Students to Study Nuclear Energy Technology in Hungary
On July 29, a delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade held a seminar with the Hungarian Rectors' Conference and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), focusing on promoting educational cooperation in the industrial sector, particularly in Hungary's advantageous disciplines such as mechanical engineering, semiconductors, nuclear energy, and information technology. Dr. Nguyen Van Thien, Vice President of Hanoi University of Industry, proposed that BME provide short-term or long-term training courses for lecturers from his university. Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Hoan, President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, expressed hope to send 3 to 5 graduate students to study at BME this year or next year through government scholarships, with the expectation that they would return to work in Vietnam after graduation. The Vietnamese delegation also stated that, in preparation for the upcoming nuclear power project, it hopes to send students to Hungary to study nuclear energy technology starting this year.

Russian flaw detection robots to be deployed for the first time at Egypt's El Dabaa NPP
Engineers from Russia's Ural Atomenergo and the Atomic Energy Non-Destructive Testing Center (NDTC) have developed an automated metal non-destructive testing system, which includes specialized inspection devices for reactor pressure vessel equipment. The system will be sent to Egypt's El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant for related equipment inspection. This is also the first deployment of such a standardized system at a nuclear power project outside Russia. The system consists of multiple robotic arms and a magnetic wheeled robot, capable of delivering ultrasonic flaw detection sensors and measuring devices to positions that are difficult for humans to access. The developer stated that the main goal of the system is to replace manual operations in high-radiation areas, reducing the risk of personnel entering hazardous zones for inspection tasks.

2026 User Annual Conference of Hefei Light Source and Hefei Advanced Light Source Successfully Held in Changchun
From July 26 to 28, the 2026 User Annual Conference of Hefei Light Source and Hefei Advanced Light Source was held in Changchun, Jilin Province. The conference was hosted by the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory of the University of Science and Technology of China, and co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Superhard Materials and Comprehensive Extreme Condition High Pressure Science Center of Jilin University, and the State Key Laboratory of Special Luminescent Science and Technology of the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. A total of 317 experts, scholars, and user representatives from 69 universities and research institutes across the country gathered to conduct in-depth exchanges on the construction, operation, and cutting-edge achievements of large-scale scientific facilities. Fuel unloading completed for Unit 3 of Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant
On July 30, Unit 3 of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant completed the unloading of reactor fuel assemblies, and the planned refueling outage has now entered its next phase. During this outage, the plant will replace part of the nuclear fuel and carry out hundreds of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities to enhance nuclear safety levels and ensure the long-term stable operation of the unit. Annual outage maintenance of Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant begins on August 2
Fortum, the Finnish state-owned energy company, announced that the annual outage maintenance of the Loviisa Nuclear Power Plant will commence on August 2, starting with Unit 2 and then transitioning to Unit 1. The maintenance is scheduled to continue until October 18. During this period, the two units will be taken offline for maintenance in rotation, with the other unit remaining in operation. As planned, Unit 2 will undergo a major annual overhaul conducted every eight years. During the maintenance, staff will unload the reactor fuel, inspect and pressure test the reactor pressure vessel, replace approximately one-quarter of the fuel, and complete a series of equipment maintenance and servicing tasks.
